
KNWS TV51 to Air Six Comets Games; Cooper Joins TV Broadcast Team

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today that the team has renewed its broadcasting partnership with KNWS TV51 to air six Comets games in 2004. The local television schedule will tip off on May 25 when the Comets visit the Connecticut Sun. This will mark the third season that KNWS TV51 has teamed up with the Comets to be the official flagship television station.
Handling the play-by-play duties will be Jeff Hagedorn, who returns for his sixth season as the "Voice of the Comets." New color analyst Cynthia Cooper will join Hagedorn on the television broadcasts. Cooper, who steps off the court and behind the camera for the Comets broadcast team, was a two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player (1997, 1998) and four-time WNBA Finals MVP (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000) with the Houston Comets. She announced her retirement from the WNBA on May 2, 2004.

In addition, the Comets will be on six nationally televised games, with three contests on ESPN2 (July 10 vs. Los Angeles Sparks, July 15 vs. Detroit Shock, Sept. 16 vs. Sacramento Monarchs), two on ABC (June 5 vs. Los Angeles Sparks, July 31 vs. Indiana Fever) and one on Oxygen (Sept. 12 at Washington Mystics).
