Knights/White Sox make roster moves

Fort Mill, SC - Prior to the Knights game with the Richmond Braves the Chicago White Sox/Charlotte Knights have made five roster moves. The Chicago White Sox have recalled RHP Sean Tracey from Triple-A Charlotte, RHP Hideo Nomo was activated off the disabled list and released, OF Damian Rolls was released, INF Andy Gonzalez was activated off the DL and signed INF Bobby Smith.
Tracey, 25, went 5-3 with a 3.18 ERA (22 ER/62.1 IP) and 49 strikeouts in 15 games (nine starts) with the Knights this season. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder issued 35 walks but held opponents to a .210 (47-224) average. His first six appearances of the season came in relief but he made nine straight starts prior to the recall.
Nomo, 37, appeared in just one game with the Charlotte Knights in 2006. In his one start of the season he went 3.0 innings allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, posting a 3.00 ERA. In his 3 innings of work he also walked 2 and struck out 3.
Rolls, 28, was signed on May 10 and appeared in 17 games with the Knights. He went a combined 8-44 posting a .182 batting average. He connected on his only homerun on May 15 against Louisville.
Gonzalez, 24, appeared in 35 games before being placed on the disabled list back on May 23. On the season he is currently batting .303 (37-122) with 11 doubles, 1 homerun and 18 RBI's.
Smith, 32, spent the 2005 season with Sacramento of the PCL and appeared in 102 games. He batted .286 (117-409) with 19 doubles, 13 homeruns and 64 RBI's. He spent the 2004 season with the Charlotte Knights where he batted .272 (138-508) with 37 doubles, 28 homeruns and 89 RBI's. Smith was originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 11th round of the 1992 draft.
