Charlotte Knights News Release
(Columbus, OH) -- In the city that is home to the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, the Charlotte Knights put up a football-like score Tuesday afternoon in defeating the Columbus Clippers 13-6 in the finale of their four-game series from Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.
The Knights (39-28) put up a seven-run fourth inning to earn a split of the four-game series and finish with a 6-2 record on the road trip.
Dan Johnson provided the power to finish-off the Clippers with his second and third home runs in the last two days. His 16th homer of the season was a three-run shot to finish off the scoring in the fourth inning and his 17th was a two-run blast in the eighth inning. Both homers came with two outs. Johnson had five RBIs to give him 52 for the season, which is second in the International League.
Greg Golson set the tone for the day as he led off the ballgame with a home run, his third of the year. He also drove in Ozzie Martinez with a base hit in the fourth-inning outburst. Golson was 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI on the day.
Chicago White Sox starter John Danks took the mound for Charlotte on a rehab assignment on Tuesday. Danks started and gave up three runs, one earned, in four innings pitched. He threw 61 pitches, 34 for strikes. He walked one and struck-out one.
Brian Bruney (1-3, 1.86 ERA) came on in relief of Danks and tossed three scoreless innings to earn the victory.
