Knights Fall to Tides 6-3 on Wednesday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - RHP Michael Kopech struck-out eight batters over five innings, and center fielder Charlie Tilson recorded three hits, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game three of their four-game series to the Norfolk Tides by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The Tides rallied in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie and score three runs against RHP Rob Scahill (2-2, 3.43).

Making his ninth start of the season, Kopech allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over five innings of work. The 22-year-old right-hander, who is ranked as the top pitching prospect in the Chicago White Sox system, walked four batters and struck-out eight in a no decision. He threw 100 pitches (57 for strikes).

Offensively, Tilson led the way with a game-high three hits for the Knights. He extended his hit streak to seven consecutive games. Second baseman Juan Perez went 1-for-4 on the night to extend his hit streak to five consecutive games. As a team, the Knights tallied eight hits.

The Knights will conclude their four-game series against the Tides on Thursday from BB&T Ballpark on Thirsty Thursday with $1 small sodas, $3 domestic drafts, and $5 craft drafts. The team will host "Video Game Knight" and fans will have a chance to video play games on the concourse thanks to Abari Game Bar. The first 2,000 fans will also receive a Royalty Racer Video Game T-Shirt. WWE Superstar Heath Slater will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
