Knights Fall to Mud Hens 2-1

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - RHP Jordan Stephens struck-out nine batters over six shutout innings, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game two of their three-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens by a score of 2-1 on Saturday night from BB&T Ballpark.

Stephens recorded a season-high nine strikeouts on Saturday, but did not factor in the decision. The 25-year-old right-hander gave up just three hits over his six scoreless innings. In all, Stephens threw 100 pitches, 67 for strikes. LHP Aaron Bummer (0-2, 6.43) was saddled with the loss after he allowed two runs on two hits over one inning of work (7th inning).

The Knights tallied nine hits on the night and scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to an RBI single by right fielder Mason Robbins. Chicago White Sox top prospect Eloy Jiménez went 1-for-3 with a walk.

The Knights will conclude their three-game series against the Mud Hens on Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. first pitch from BB&T Ballpark. Gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Sunbelt Sunday presented by Sunbelt Rentals and the Knights will once again play as the Charlotte Caballeros. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a Mini Caballeros Soccer Ball courtesy of BB&T. After the game, kids can "Run The Bases" presented by Killingsworth Environmental.

Pre-game radio coverage of Sunday's game will begin at 1:50 PM on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action. The game will also be broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago with Charlotte 49ers head baseball coach Loren Hibbs joining the duo in the TV broadcast booth. All Sunday home games are also broadcast live in Spanish on 102.3 FM Latina with broadcasters Rafael Bastidas and Ernesto Hurtado.
