Knicks Knock off Charge 120-110 in Matinee

CLEVELAND, OH - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, defeated the Cleveland Charge 120-110, on Sunday afternoon at Wolstein Center. With the victory, Westchester is currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and trails the College Park Skyhawks by one game for the final spot in the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs.

Tyler Hall (returning rights) led the Knicks (15-14) with 30 points for his third outing with at least that number this season, hitting a career-high 9-14 from three, along with five rebounds and three steals. Coming off the bench, Tra Holder (available player pool) went for 20 points and six assists. Louis King (returning rights) continued his stellar play, stuffing the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Feron Hunt (Two-Way) chipped in with 15 points, six rebounds, six assists, and a career-high five steals. Dewan Hernandez (returning rights) finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Cleveland (6-23) was led by 33 points from Brandon Goodwin. RJ Nembhard Jr. contributed 23 points off the bench.

The hosts opened a 10-point lead, 18-8, mid-way through the opening quarter. With 60 seconds left to play in the period, Westchester sliced the deficit to four on a triple from Holder. The Charge led 32-25 after one.

After falling behind 52-34 at the 7:20 mark in the second, the Knicks fought back to make it 56-49 in favor of the home team with 3:48 left in the half. Cleveland took a 68-57 advantage to the locker room.

The Knicks came out on fire after the break, tacking on nine straight points to cut the deficit to 68-66 with 8:51 on the clock in the third. The score was tied at 71-up nearly a minute later, and the visitors took their first lead since the opening minutes, 81-80, with 3:41 remaining in the period. The hosts held a 90-84 edge after three.

With the Charge clinging to a 100-94 advantage with 8:13 left to play, the Knicks used a 13-0 barrage to take a 107-100 lead with nearly three minutes remaining. The teams went on to trade buckets, and King hit two free-throws to cement the 10-point victory.

The two teams will do it again on Tuesday, March 29 at 6 PM ET in the final away game of Westchester's regular season.
