Kinston's Marty Popham Is the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week

Kinston Indians News Release
Marty Popham was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week following two outstanding starts last week.
In outings against Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, Popham threw 13 scoreless innings and gave up just ten hits. Popham struck out 12 and only walked one batter. On Sunday against Myrtle Beach, he retired the final ten batters he faced and struck out the last four in a row.
Amazingly, Popham has not allowed a run in three of his five starts, and also has had a one-run performance. He has struck out at least five and walked no more than two in all of his starts.
Popham is the second K-Tribe pitcher to earn the honor this season, joining Joe Gardner who was named Pitcher of the Week on May 24. Popham is 1-1 with a 3.92 ERA in five starts this season.
