Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - A season-high 7,084 fans came out to see the Dash, but Kinston stole the show, belting four home runs en route to an 8-1 victory on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. The crowd was the eighth sell-out of the season, and the fourth-largest in BB&T Ballpark history.
The Dash (25-30) got on the board in the first inning against Indians starter Clayton Cook. Tyler Saladino led off with a walk, and then scored on Ian Gac's two-out double to left field. After that run, Kinston took over.
In the second, Dash starter Ryan Buch walked Adam Abraham with one out. Abner Abreu followed with the first home run against Buch to put Kinston in front 2-1.
The home run barrage continued into the fourth, when Jeremie Tice hit a solo shot to extend the lead to two.
The K-Tribe (28-26) opened up the score in the fifth when Roberto Perez hit an infield single to lead off, and Tyler Cannon followed with his first home run of the season for Kinston. After Buch walked Tyler Holt, Casey Frawley connected on a long ball to put the Indians up 7-1.
Kinston added an unearned run in the seventh against reliever Santos Rodriguez. Frawley reached on a two-base error by Nick Ciolli, who lost a fly ball in the lights, and scored after Tice doubled to straight-away center field. When all was said and done, the K-Tribe scored eight unanswered runs to close out the game.
After the first, Winston couldn't mount anything offensively against Cook (6-3). He left after seven innings where he struck out nine and allowed only the first-inning run. Buch (1-1) got the loss after allowing a career-high seven earned runs and four home runs. Leroy Hunt closed out the game for the Dash and threw two scoreless innings.
Winston-Salem wraps up the home stand against Kinston on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. RHP Cameron Bayne (4-3, 3.83) starts for the Dash against LHP Giovanni Soto (4-3, 2.44).
