Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
Lynchburg took the lead on three separate occasions on Sunday afternoon before dropping the rubber match to Kinston 6-3. The Hillcats look to bounce back on Monday night in game one of a four-game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
The Hillcats struck first with the first home run of the year from Miles Durham in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the fifth inning the Indians evened the score with a RBI single by Lucas Montero.
Lynchburg responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning to regain the lead at 2-1. Maiko Loyola drove home Miles Durham with an RBI sacrifice fly to put the Cats back in front.
Unfortunately, the lead would not last long as the K-Tribe came back and tied the game in the top of the sixth inning. Roman Pena had an infield single in the frame to tie the game at two a piece.
That run meant it was another no-decision for Cats starter Ronald Uviedo, who again pitched very well. Uviedo has allowed one earned run or less in four of five starts this season but is yet to earn a victory.
In the bottom of the seventh inning Lynchburg would regain the lead with an RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of Maiko Loyola to put them up 3-2.
The lead would not last long though, as Kinston struck for four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead for good. Richard Martinez had the big hit in the frame, a three-run home run that put the K-Tribe in front.
The loss went to reliever Harrison Bishop (0-1) for Lynchburg and the win was earned by lefty Heath Taylor (1-1) and Dallas Cawiezell picked up his second save of the season for Kinston (13-11).
On Monday Lynchburg takes on Myrtle Beach in the first game of a four-game series at City Stadium. Left-hander Chi-Hung Cheng (2-0, 5.21) will get the start for the Hillcats opposite lefty Richard Sullivan (0-0, 0.00) for the Pelicans. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. at City Stadium and you can catch all the live action on FM 105.5 KD Country.
Every Monday night game at City Stadium is 25 cent hot dog night at City Stadium presented by ABC 13!
