Kings Slug Way to Win Over Otters
July 31, 2008 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
July 31, 2008, Evansville, Ind. - The top team in the Frontier League scored early and often as they beat Evansville 7-3 at Bosse Field on Thursday night. The Kings had two home runs including a Simon Williams three-run home run to open the scoring in the first inning.
The Otters showed some of their own power as Jose Pineda hit a solo home run to get Evansville on the board in the second inning. For a second straight night the King's early inning scoring was too much for the Otters to handle, as Kalamazoo held a 4-0 lead after the top of the second inning. Both teams had 13 hits on the night but the Otters left 12 on base, including nine left in scoring position. Mike Damchuk (2-1) allowed 10 hits in just five innings as he takes the loss, while Jeff Long (5-3) allowed just one run in seven innings to pick up the win.
Five different Otters had multi-hit nights with Pineda leading the way going 2-3 with a home run and a double. Evansville wraps up their three game series on Friday night with first pitch slated for 7:05 CDT.
