River City Rascals News Release

Chillicothe, OH - Call it a winning streak!

With a 13-6 thumping of the Chillicothe Paints the River City Rascals have won three straight games, on the road of all places, for the first time since winning four straight from June 15-18.

Behind timely hitting and four crooked number innings, the Rascals took the first of three at VA Memorial Stadium.

Trailing 3-0 after one inning, the Rascals would go on to outscore the Paints 13-3 over the next eight innings including the final eight of the game for their largest hit, 17, and run totals of the season.

The hit and run parade started in the top of the second inning when the Rascals tied it at three. Dan Maycock made his Rascals debut and went 3-5 on the night, doubling in his first at-bat. Phil Laurent followed the double with his seventh home run of the season. Chris Raniere would later be hit by a pitch in the inning and driven in one batter later by Greg Stone's second double of the season to tie the score.

River City took their first lead the next inning, putting up a two spot after Paint starter Adam Polk walked the first two he faced. Both Jeff Miller and Ryan Wehrle would come in to score on Andrew Sweet's first of three hits and RBIs and a Raniere sacrifice fly.

The Paints plated one in the third and two in the fourth off Danny Powers to retake the lead 6-5, their last lead of the ballgame. Powers (4-5) would settle down and retire 10 of the final 12 batters he faced for the win, going seven innings and allowing six runs, five earned.

While Powers settled, down the offense took off, plating five runs in the fifth to chase Polk. Miller drove in two, Laurent doubled in another and Sweet and Stone singled in one a piece to make it 10-6.

River City would score their final three runs in the eighth off Stephen Spragg. Adam White and Brian Logan each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to finish out the game. Polk dropped to 5-4 in the loss, allowing 10 earned on 12 hits.

The Rascals (29-35) look to win their fourth straight Thursday night from Chillicothe with the game scheduled to start at 7:05 EST. Catch the Rascals on the road all season on FM 104.5 KSLQ.
