River City Rascals News Release

Chillicothe, OH - Dan Maycock is starting to make a name for himself in the River City Rascals dugout, and it has only taken two games.

The 6'6, 250 pound outfielder now has six hits in his first two Rascals games, the fourth and fifth of which being home runs, as he led the Rascals to a 10-1 thumping of the Chillicothe Paints Thursday night.

For the Rascals it was their fourth straight win, bringing their road record to 4-1 on their current nine game road trip.

River City struck early. Brad Hough drove home his first of two RBIs with a double to plate Luke Barganier in the top of the first inning. Chris Raniere drove in Phil Laurent with a single in the second inning to make it 2-0.

Jake Laber (1-3) started for River City and picked up the win, despite making it interesting along the way. Laber stranded 12 Paints in his seven innings of shutout baseball. The left-hander struck out seven, but walked five and hit two.

The long balls started in the third for the Rascals. Jeff Miller led off with his thirteenth of the season, taking Andrew McCormick out the right. Miller's blast was followed two batters later by Maycock's laser to right, a two run shot making it 5-0 River City. McCormick's night would be over after he hit the next batter Laurent. The right-hander was ejected from the game and would later drop to 3-7 with the loss.

Maycock would come back up in the fifth inning and hit his second home run of the ballgame. Three more runs would follow in the fifth off Taylor Cameron. Raniere teed off to right for his fifth home run of the season with a runner on. Hough then drove in his second RBI with a single to score Greg Stone.

The Rascals last run would come in the eighth when pinch hitter Carlos Newman grounded out to second to score Ryan Wehrle.

Chillicothe finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth inning. Desmond Jones walked in a run before getting Jon Poterson to strike out to end the game. The Rascals collected 16 hits total on the night with all nine in the starting lineup getting a hit. The Paints left 16 on base throughout the night.

River City (30-35) goes for the sweep Friday night at 7:05 p.m. EST from VA Memorial Stadium.
