The Kalamazoo Kings fell in the series finale to the Southern Illinois Miners 5-3 Sunday afternoon. Reigning Pitcher of the Year Ryan Bird of the Miners shut down the Kings for 8 innings. After allowing a solo HR to Brendan Murphy, Bird only allowed 3 hits until he ran into trouble in the ninth which included Murphy's 2nd HR of the day off reliever Nick Starnes to keep things interesting. Starnes rebounded to close out the game.
