River City Rascals News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - Ryan Wehrle was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with his first home run of the season in a 9-5 win at Consol Energy Park in Washington, Pennsylvania. Wehrle finished with three runs batted in as the Rascals salvage a win in the three game set.
River City (10-6) never trailed in the contest, scoring four runs in the second. Wehrle scored on a wild pitch by Aaron Fuhrman (0-2) and Scott Houin produced the first Rascal triple to plate two more for a 3-0 lead. Houin would score on a fielding error by third baseman Michael Parker on a Jorge Gutierrez batted ball.
The Rascals added two more in the fifth on a Wehrle two run homer and two bizarre runs in the eighth. Wehrle and Kevin Reynolds led off with back to back singles in a 7-3 River City lead. Andy Reilly bunted the ball towards Parker at third, who bobbled the ball into the catcher's mask of Alan Robbins. The umpire ruled the ball dead and each runner advances three bases as a result. Wehrle and Reynolds scored with Reilly advancing all the way to third for a 9-4 advantage. Reilly was credited with a triple on the play.
Washington (5-10) got a two run blast from Grant Psomas in the fifth and got on the board in the second on a solo shot from Jacob Dempsey.
Chris Ingoglia (2-1) earned his second win, going five innings allowing three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts.
Josh Lowey threw three scoreless innings and allowed only one hit in the three frames. Brandon Graves allowed a single tally in the ninth to preserve the win.
Houin and Reilly each had two hits while Chad Maddox and Danny Sawyer each finished with one hit apiece.
The Rascals will be off Monday and Tuesday before returning to action on Wednesday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark for a two game series against the Gateway Grizzlies. Come out and enjoy the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest three hours before the game on Wednesday, June 10th. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Rascals ticket office at (636) 240-BATS or visit the Rascals online at HYPERLINK "http://www.rivercityrascals.com/"www.rivercityrascals.com.
