
Kings Assign Strbak To Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned defenseman Martin Strbak to Manchester. In a related move, the Monarchs have assigned right wing Leon Hayward to the Reading Royals of the ECHL, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Strbak, 28, has appeared in five games for the Kings this season recording two goals (2-0=2) and eight penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Presov, Slovakia, made his NHL debut this season on October 10 at Pittsburgh versus the Penguins. Originally selected by the Kings in the ninth round (244th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Strbak recorded his first NHL point with a goal on October 21 versus the Philadelphia Flyers. Strbak will wear jersey number 8 when the Monarchs meet the Worcester IceCats in Worcester, Massachusetts, tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
Hayward, 24, has appeared in four games for the Monarchs this season recording one point (an assist) and two penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Seattle, Washington, has also appeared in two games for the Royals this season recording one point (a goal) and two penalty minutes. Hayward will join the Royals in Illinois for a pair of games against the Peoria Rivermen (ECHL) starting tomorrow night.
The Kings, who last night skated by the Florida Panthers, 3-2, continue their four-game road trip tonight in Tampa Bay versus the Lightning at 7 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710 - KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network.
The Monarchs host the Portland Pirates on Saturday, November 8 at 7:35 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena as part of T-Shirt Night, with the first 5,000 fans receiving a free Monarchs T-shirt courtesy of Crowely Foods. The Monarchs then close week five of the AHL schedule when they host the Albany River Rats at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday, November 9 at 4:05 p.m. The first 3,000 kids 12 and under at Sunday's game will receive a free Monarchs practice jersey courtesy of Jiffy Lube.
