Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday announced a revised television schedule on WXSP-TV that will feature four road games over the remainder of the 2003-04 American Hockey League season.
Home game telecasts originally scheduled for Jan. 16 and March 13 were dropped in favor of a pair of additional road contests. As a result, the six-game package that began with telecasts of the 2003 Red & White Game and the Griffins' home opener on Oct. 18 will conclude with four road games:
Fri., Nov. 21 GRIFFINS at St. John's Maple Leafs 6:05 p.m.
Sat., Jan. 31 GRIFFINS at Utah Grizzlies 9:05 p.m. (joined in progress)
Fri., Mar. 26 GRIFFINS at Utah Grizzlies 9:05 p.m.
Sat., Apr. 3 GRIFFINS at Chicago Wolves 8 p.m.
Thanks to this amended TV package, Griffins fans will be able to witness the team's first ever visit to the province of Newfoundland, when Grand Rapids takes on the St. John's Maple Leafs later this month. The slate will be rounded out with key battles against West Division rivals Utah and Chicago, including the season's final clash with the Wolves in April.
The Jan. 31 game at Utah will be joined in progress, following the conclusion of the Detroit Red Wings/Carolina Hurricanes game that starts at 7 p.m.
WXSP, which will carry the home team's feed for each of the four games, can be seen in 17 counties throughout west and southwest Michigan, with transmission via DirecTV, six cable systems and several over-the-air UHF stations.
