
Kingfish Top Madison 5-1 for Fourth Straight Victory

Kenosha, Wis. -A combination of great pitching and timely hitting by the Kingfish offense resulted in a 5-1 victory over the Madison Mallards Sunday afternoon at Simmons Field.
Kingfish starter Josh Serio entered with a 2-0 record on the year and was again on top of his game. The sophomore at UW-Parkside threw six innings of five hit ball, striking out a season high 10 batters on the day. Kingfish pitching has struck out 18 batters in the last two games. Serio's ERA now stands at 0.50 on the year. Ryan Orr came in to throw three innings and pick up the save, his first of the season.
The Kingfish (9-4) bats struck early in the game, scoring five runs in the first four innings. Third baseman Hunter Alexander and first baseman Alex Borglin delivered back-to-back RBI singles in the first to push the Kingfish ahead 2-0. After adding one in the third and one in the fourth, second baseman Nick Sergakis singled home center fielder Jack Sundberg to push the lead to 5-1 and the Kingfish pitching did the rest to secure their fourth straight victory. The Kingfish are now one and a half games up on Madison for first place in the Northwoods League South Division.
First baseman Scott Tyler led the Mallards (7-5) at the plate, going 1-4 on the day with one RBI. AJ Bogucki took the loss for Madison. He started the game and lasted three innings, scattering seven hits and allowing three runs.
Monday's 6:35 p.m. game at Simmons Field is Candlewood Inn and Suites Guaranteed Win Night. A free ticket for all fans in attendance will be awarded if the Kingfish lose.
