Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards (7-5) were defeated by the Kenosha Kingfish (8-4) by a final score of 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Simmons Field. It was the fourth consecutive losing effort for Mallards field manager Donnie Scott and company, who for the first time in the 2015 season dropped to second place in the Northwoods League's South Division.

A.J. Bogucki's (North Carolina) first start went less than spectacularly, allowing three earned runs on seven hits, one walk and two strikeouts across three innings of work. The Kingfish tagged Madison's 6-foot-3 right-hander with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and one in each of the following two frames, leading to an early deficit for the Mallards.

Scott Tyler (Ball State) did what he could to stimulate Madison's lineup in the top of the second inning, lacing a double to the gap that plated shortstop Tony Butler (Madison College). Jake Roberts (Yakima Valley CC) reached base via hit by pitch, after which both baserunners advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch. Logan Regnier (Central Michigan) and Anthony Gonsolin (St. Mary's College) each struck out swinging, however, ceasing Madison's opportunity for extra runs.

With Bogucki bounced in favor of Andrew Beckwith (Coastal Carolina), Kenosha wasted little time tacking on its final insurance run of the day in the bottom of the fourth, during which Beckwith fanned two and allowed five hits in addition to his lone run across two frames of work. Hever Bueno (Arizona State) pitched the sixth and seventh innings for the Mallards, ceding no runs and fanning three. Corbin Olmstead (North Florida) tallied a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Ho-Chunk Gaming 'Big Win' Player of the Night was centerfielder Cameron Frost (Washington State), who finished with a 2-for-4 batting line and stolen base from the fifth spot in Madison's order. Frost now struts a season batting average of .314 (11-for-35) and OPS of .829 this summer, hoarding a team-high eight stolen bases.

The Mallards will return home on Tuesday, June 9 against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (6:35 p.m. first pitch). Tuesday night will feature The Human Cannonball presented by Endres Manufacturing.
