Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Wausau, Wis. - The Kingfish (6-11) put up 4 runs in the 9th inning, but were unable to close the gap against the Woodchucks (8-7) as they took the loss 11-8.

Wisconsin scored the game's first 6 runs and never looked back. The Kingfish were held in check early, and did not plate a single run until 6th inning of action. The Kingfish scored 2 in the 6th, 2 in the 7th, and 4 runs in the 9th inning.

Wisconsin posted some insurance runs late in the game, including a pair of home runs in the 7th. Those runs were all the Woodchucks needed to seal the deal and take the win to open the series.

Cole Erickson started on the mound for the Kingfish and struggled. He lasted 3.2 innings and allowed 6 runs off of 9 hits. Adam Dressler relieved him, and had a tough time of his own as 5 runs crossed the plate with him on the mound. Chase Thurston worked the final inning for the Kingfish and shut the Woodchucks down in short order.

Jack Yalowitz, undertaking his new role as the leadoff hitter, led the Kingfish offense with 3 hits in 6 at bats, including an RBI triple. Pat McInerney went 2 for 2 with 3 walks, and Micah Coffey picked up 3 RBI on a 2 for 4 outing. The Kingfish, as a club, totaled 9 hits and 9 walks in defeat.

The Kingfish will finish up their two game series with the Woodchucks tomorrow night and will send Aaron Schwark to the mound. The four game road trip will conclude in La Crosse on Sunday with a weekend series against the Loggers.
