June 17, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - Bullfrogs fell down early in tonight's ballgame and could not muster a comeback as they lose to the Eau Claire Express 9-1. This loss makes three in a row for the Bullfrogs and moves their record to 6-12 on the season.
The Express jumped on the Bullfrogs early as they plated the first run of the ballgame in the first inning. Dakota Klein (Texas A&M) was on the mound for the Bullfrogs as a run scored off a throwing error from Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western Community College) at third base. The scoring would continue as the Express plated a run in the third and fourth inning.
The game started to get out of hand in the fourth inning. Connor Jackson (UC-Berkeley) was on the mound for the Bullfrogs. After striking out the leadoff batter in the inning, Jackson walked the next batter and then hit the following two Express hitters. Matt Gunter (Hawaii Pacific) came into the bases loaded jam. Gunter walked the first batter he faced to plate the first run then a throwing error by Parker Coss (UC-Irvine) at shortstop plated two more runs for the Express. When all said and done, the Express would plate three more runs off a three run home run by Jared Mang (New Mexico) in the eighth.
The story of the night was Eau Claire starting pitcher Caleb Boushley (UW La Crosse). He caused fits for the Bullfrogs offensively through seven innings of work. Only allowing five hits, Boushley struck out eleven batters, the first six strikeouts coming in the first two innings. The only Bullfrog that was able to figure out Boushley was Randell Kanemaru (Columbia). The second baseman had three hits in the game, two of them being doubles. Chris Botsoe (Louisville) and Coss both had a hit in tonight's ballgame while Jonah Davis (UC Berkeley) had the Bullfrogs lone RBI.
The long road trip will conclude tomorrow night in Madison as the Bullfrogs face the Mallards in a two game home-home series. The first game will start at 6:35pm.
