Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish dropped the first game of their two game home stand to Green Bay tonight by a final score of 5-3.
Kenosha drew first blood when Gunnar McNeill plated a pair with a single. The 2 out knock by McNeill gave the Kingfish a 2-0 lead in the 3rd, but Green Bay roared back. The Bullfrogs picked up one run in the 5th and two more in the 6th, giving the Bullfrogs a 3-2 lead. Matt Hearn picked up a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 6th to tie it up at 3 apiece.
Green Bay would not go quietly, however, as they scored two runs in the 7th. Those final two runs were enough to fend off the Kingfish the rest of the way. Green Bay pitching held the Kingfish to one hit in the last 4 innings, and stranded 11 runners over the course of the game.
Wes Weeks had a 2 for 4 outing at the plate and was the only Kingfish to get into the hit column multiple times. Gunnar McNeill went 1 for 5 with 2 RBI and Matt Hearn collected a lone RBI off of his sacrifice fly.
Charlie Hecht took a no-decision after another exceptional night on the mound. He worked 6.0 innings, gave up 3 runs, only one being earned, and punched out 4. Rigo Beltran was given the loss after allowing two runs in the seventh, though he turned in scoreless innings in the 8th and 9th.
The Kingfish will finish their home stand against Green Bay tomorrow before going on a four game road trip to Wausau and La Crosse.
