Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - Two wins in a row constitute a winning streak for the Bullfrogs as they take down the Kenosha Kingfish 5-3. After falling down early 2-0, the Bullfrogs battled back and pulled out a close win. Bullfrogs record moves to 6-9.
Austin Hancock (Lenoir Rhyne) got the start for the Bullfrogs. He was cruising through two innings but ran into trouble in the third. The Kingfish plated two runs on a two out two RBI single by Gunner McNeil (Kentucky). Hancock went five plus innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and striking out five.
The Bullfrogs was able to cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth as Randell Kanemaru (Columbia) plated Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC) for the Bullfrogs first run. In the sixth, the Bullfrogs would take the lead off Kingfish miscues. After back to back singles from Colton Onstott (Dodge City CC) and Brian Lees (Southeast Missouri State), Jonah Davis (UC-Berkeley) laid down a sacrifice bunt. The catcher Peter Schuler (Kent State) fielded the bunt but sent his throw into right field. The error would plate both Onstott and Lees, Bullfrogs would take a 3-2 lead.
The Kingfish quickly tied the ballgame in the bottom half of the sixth off a sac fly by Matt Hearn (Mission CC) scoring Cal Jadacki (St. Joe's). The resilience by the Bullfrogs was on display again as they took the lead in the seventh inning. Laren Eustace (Indiana) scored on a balk by the pitcher Rigo Beltran (Lynn University) and Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne) score the Bullfrogs fifth run on a fielder's choice by Lees.
The bullpen was once again spectacular for the Bullfrogs. In four innings of work, the bullpen gave up one hit and no runs scored for the Kingfish. In the bottom of the eight, the Kingfish had the bases loaded when BJ Sabol (Indiana) came into the ballgame. The lefty struck out back to back batters to end the inning. Harrisen Egly (Columbia) picked up his second save of the season as he pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Bullfrogs are back in action tomorrow night as they faced the Kenosha Kingfish. First pitch is at 7:05pm.
