Bullfrogs Look to Make It Three in a Row

June 15, 2016 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wis. - Last night's win marked the first time this season that the Bullfrogs have won back to back games. At 7:05 tonight they look to continue their winning streak. The Bullfrogs (6-9) go up against the Kenosha Kingfish (5-10) in a South Division match-up.

The Bullfrogs battled back in the first game of the series and pulled out a 5-3 victory over the Kingfish. Austin Hancock got the start for the Bullfrogs, he earned a no decision after going five plus innings of work. The bullpen was once again spectacular for the bullfrogs as they combined to allow one hit and no runs against the Kingfish. Their stellar performance suppressed any Kingfish attempt to score in the latter part of the game. BJ Sabol (Indiana) got out of a bases loaded jam by striking out back to back Kingfish in the Bottom of the eighth. Harrisen Egly (Columbia) came in and closed the door, picking up his second save of the season.

The offense took advantage of a couple of Kingfish miscues last night. In the top of the sixth, the catcher Peter Schuler (Kent State) threw a Jonah Davis (UC-Berkeley) bunt into right field bringing in two runs to score for the Bullfrogs. Then in the top of the seventh, a balk brought in Laren Eustace (Indiana) from third. Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne) scored the fifth run on a heads up base running play. Cal Jadackin (St. Joe's) ranged over to his right to field a ground ball but that left first unoccupied. It became a foot race between Jadacki and Lees, who hit the ground ball. As Jadacki was running to get the out at first, Shoemaker ran home and score easily.

On this road trip the Bullfrogs currently sit a 2-1 at the halfway point. Chad Mabini (Western Carolina) will get his first start of the season on the mound for the Bullfrogs. Mabini has been slotted in at second base so far this season to help fill the void in the infield. Moving forward, Mabini will be used more on the mound than in the field.

The Kingfish are either going to send out Andrew Reisinger or Cole Erickson to the mound to face the Bullfrogs. Reisinger would be making his second start of the year, he has thrown eight innings and has yet to give up a run. Cole Erikson started against the Bullfrogs back on June 3rd. He went five innings giving up three runs and earning the loss.
