
Bucks and Honkers Suspended in Series Opener

WATERLOO, Iowa. - In a game that started nearly two hours after its originally scheduled first pitch time and featured two separate delays exceeding an hour each, play was suspended in the eighth inning with Waterloo leading Rochester, 3-2. Play will continue at Riverfron Stadium on Monday, July 4th, with the start time yet to be announced.
Waterloo (11-3) took an early 2-0 lead on a pair of unearned runs in the third. A Rochester two-out fielding error brought in both Alex Boxwell and Lane Milligan for the game's first runs of the night.
Rochester (4-10) tied the game at 2-2 with two, two-out runs in the seventh. Jacob Thomas's RBI double made it 2-1 before Keaton Weisz brought in Thomas with an RBI single.
Steven Baker went five innings for the first time in his third start of the year. Baker allowed no runs for the second straight start, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out three.
Rochester starter Isaac Friesen yielded two unearned runs over seven innings in a no-decision. The right-hander gave up just five hits and three walks, striking out none.
Derek Hendrixson tossed a season-high three innings in relief. Hendrixson yielded two runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out four and issuing an intentional walk.
Brody Weiss went 2-for-4 with a double in his season debut for the Bucks while Robert Neustrom extended his hitting streak to six games with a double to leadoff the bottom of the second.
The Bucks conclude their two-game series against the Honkers on Wednesday, June 15 in Rochester. First pitch from Mayo Field is at 7:05 p.m. RHP Jared Crescentini (2-0, 1.42) takes the hill for Waterloo while RHP Spencer Johnson (1-0, 9.28) counters for Rochester in his third start of the season.
Waterloo returns home to Riverfront Stadium on Saturday, June 18 for the start of a two-game homestand against the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Saturday's game is at 7:05 p.m. and is Star Wars Night and a Post-Game Fireworks Extravaganza. The first 500 fans to Saturday's game receive a free Star Wars T-Shirt! The Bucks will also be wearing special jerseys as part of Star Wars Night that will be sold during the game via a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley. Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character as players from the 501st Central Garrison will be on hand for photos. ?
