
Kingfish Fall Short in Final Game Before All-Star Break

Green Bay, WI- In the final game for the Kingfish at Joannes Stadium this season, the Green Bay Bullfrogs came out on top with a 7-5 victory to close out the two-game series with a split.
The Kingfish got on the board first with two doubles in the second inning, the latter one by Zach Ratcliff to score the game's first run.
With a 1-0 Kenosha lead, the Bullfrogs put up three runs in the second inning, and two more in the third frame. RBI hits came from Mason George, Logan Taylor, and Desi Ammons. Ammons finished with three hits on the evening.
Kingfish starter E.J. Trapino was removed from the game after just 2 2/3IP/7H/5R(4ER) and has now surrendered 13 hits in just six innings against the Bullfrogs in two starts.
Down 7-2 heading into the final frame against Green Bay's all-star closer, Jeremy Graf, the Kingfish sparked a rally with two outs. Mitch Gasbarro walked, followed by a Zach Weigel double. Two were aboard for Brody Westmoreland who homered to deep right for three RBI to close the gap to 7-5.
Eric Filia kept the inning alive with a single, but a fly out to center field off the bat of Alex Dunlap ended a the ninth inning and dashed the Kingfish hopes of a comeback.
At the plate, the top three hitters of the Kingfish order (Weigel, Westmoreland, and Filia) totaled a combined six hits and three runs scored. In the series, Filia had five hits and raised his season batting average to .337 putting him top five of all hitters in the Northwoods League.
The Kingfish are now 36-19 on the season, and 13-6 in the second half. They still lead the South Division in both the second half and overall composite standings.
