Rox Sweep Border Cats After a 10-3 Win

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Thunder Bay Border Cats 10-3 Sunday evening in front of a crowd of 1,903 at the Rock Pile in St. Cloud.

Lucas Glibreath (University of Minnesota) would start on the mound for the Rox where he would pitch 4.0 innings, striking out four batters. Brett DeGagne (University of North Dakota) would come in for an inning where he struck out one batter.

Following DeGagne would be Chris Fairsh (Wake Forest University) for 0.2 innings. Collin Strall (Louisiana State University) would finish off the game after pitching 3.1 innings where he did not allow a hit and struck out three batters.

Scoring for the Rox would begin in the second inning when Brett Pope (Western Carolina University) and Liam Bedford (Doane College) would score on a Marcus Carson (Universtiy of Kentucky) single.

The Rox would then score in the fifth inning when Carson scored on a wild pitch.

St. Cloud would score four runs in the sixth inning starting with Carson singling in Pope. Kyle Serrano (Colorado Mesa University) would then score on a Lee Miller (Davidson College) single. Carson would then score on a ground out off the bat of Webb Bobo (Southeastern Louisiana University). The scoring in the sixth would end when Miller would score on a Michael Strem (Boston College) single.

The Rox would continue to score in the seventh inning when a Miller double would score Serrano and Carson. The final run of the game would be Miller scoring on a John Sansone (Florida State University) single.

St. Cloud would collect 10 hits in the game. They would also score 18 runs in the two-game sweep of the Border Cats.

The Rox are now 14-5 in the second half and 33-20 overall. St. Cloud leads the second half North Division standings by two and a half games.

The team will now go on a three-game break for the Northwoods League All-Star game. Reese Gregory (St. Cloud State) and Trevor Charpie (University of Nevada, Reno) will be representing the Rox while Austin Athmann (University of Minnesota) will be participating in the Home Run Challenge.

The Rox will return to action on Thursday, July 23rd when they host the Duluth Huskies at 7:05 p.m. Gates at the Rock Pile will open for fans at 6:05 p.m. On Thursday night the award winning national entertainment act "ZOOperstars" presented by Plaza Park Bank and Times Media will be at the Rock Pile. There will also be a post-game Diamond Dig presented by Riddle's Jewelry. One lucky fan will win a $3,000 diamond ring.
