Kingfish Fall Short against Green Bay

Kenosha, Wis. - Green Bay pitcher Sam Brunner brought his "A" game to Simmons Field Wednesday night, leading the Green Bay Bullfrogs past the Kingfish by a final of 7-4.
The Kingfish (46-22) could not muster up much offense against Brunner. The Kingfish plated a run in the first on an RBI single from Jeremy Vasquez and in the fifth on an RBI sacrifice fly by John Brodner. Eric Filia delivered a single in the third inning to become the Kingfish record holder for most hits in a season with 84.
Besides allowing those two runs, Brunner confused the Kingfish lineup all night. The righty finished with a line of six and a third innings pitched with two runs allowed on seven hits. Brunner improved to 6-3 on the season for Green Bay (40-28). Jake Stolley earned the save, his fourth of the year.
Kenosha tried to claw back into the game in the seventh inning. An infield RBI single by Brodner and a bases loaded walk by Zach Weigel cut the deficit to 7-4. With the bases loaded and two outs, Stolley struck out Alex Borglin to end the Kingfish threat.
Jake Perkins made his first start for the Kingfish on the season but only lasted two innings. Perkins gave up three runs on three hits before Trevor Haas came on in relief to pitch four innings. Adam Dressler, Ryne Blanton, and J.R. Holloway combined to pitch the final three innings for the Kingfish.
Green Bay's Logan Taylor continued his hot hitting, connecting for three hits for the second straight night. Taylor scored two runs and drove in three as well. Desi Ammons collected two hits in the game for the Bullfrogs.
Tomorrow night, Lynch Chevrolet presents the Flying Dancing Elvi parachuting in pre-game. During the game, Columbia College Military Jerseys will be auctioned off. Also at Simmons Field is the Jerry Smith Pumpkin Farm Agriculture Appreciation Day. Two horses will be present in the Festival Foods Backyard area to meet and greet. A free ear of corn will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans upon exit. Do not miss Thursday's exciting matchup. Tickets are on sale now!
