Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, WI. - Wednesday Night's game vs Kalamazoo can can be broken up into two volumes.
The first volume centered around an offensive onslaught by the Kingfish. In the first inning the Kingfish struck for four runs stemming from a three-run homerun by Hunter Alexander, followed by an Andrew Brahier solo shot two at-bats later. In the third inning, the Kingfish struck again, but this time they received some significant help. The Kingfish put six runs up on the board, and the Growlers put up five errors to prolong the inning and allow six Kingfish to cross the plate. Ratcliff concluded the first chapter with a solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth that was just a few feet shy of flying out of the Homer Stryker Field premise.
The second volume began in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Growlers, after going hitless against Kingfish starter Ryne Blanton the first time through the order, began to tee off. Blanton left in the sixth after surrendering four runs off of eight hits. Anthony Olson worked an inning of relief and struggled a bit, allowing three runs and four hits. EJ Trapino relieved Olson and gave up one run in two innings of work, making the score 11-8.
Alex Borglin saw to it that the Kingfish would not be on the losing end of a historic comeback, slapping an RBI single to right scoring Brody Westmoreland in the eighth. Garrett McKenzie was called upon in the ninth to finish the deal on the mound, and he retired the Growlers 1-2-3 to give the Kingfish a hearthrobbing 12-8 victory as they fended off the Growler surge.
Zach Ratcliff went 3-5 with 2 RBI and 2 R, and both Nick Sergakis and Andrew Brahier turned in 2-5 performances combining for 4 R and 3 RBI. Ryne Blanton took the victory and the Kingfish strolled out of Kalamazoo having won all four games at Homer Stryker Field between the two road trips. The Kingfish head to La Crosse for a two game series beginning tomorrow night.
