June 10, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs will look to get back on the winning track tonight following last night's late-inning loss to the Madison Mallards on the road.
The Bullfrogs went into the bottom of the eighth inning with a 3-2 lead, but the Mallards rallied for three runs. Scott Tyler's double plated a pair of runs for Madison, and Tony Butler's RBI groundout to second base gave the Mallards a 5-3 lead.
Green Bay had two runners on base with nobody out in the ninth, but the Bullfrogs did not score as Vince Arobio picked up the save for Madison.
The game started out well for the Bullfrogs. Matthew De La Rosa led off the game with a walk, followed by a hit-by-pitch for Ty Blankmeyer that brought Ryan Donovan to the plate. On the first pitch he saw, Donovan launched the ball over the wall in right-centerfield for his second home run of the season.
The Mallards picked up two in the bottom of the fifth, and the game remained 3-2 until Madison's three-run eighth inning.
The Bullfrogs and Mallards will finish their two-game series tonight at 7:05 p.m. in Madison.
Pitching for the Bullfrogs will be Luke Crabb, making his second start of the season. The right-hander gave up one earned run on five hits in 4 2/3 innings of work and struck out five batters on June 1 against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
Lefthander Grant Spranger will make his third start for Madison tonight. He last pitched on June 4 against Green Bay and finished with a no decision in a 7-3 win for the Bullfrogs. Spranger threw five innings with no earned runs, two walks, two hits and struck out two batters against Green Bay.
The Bullfrogs will head to Wausau to play the Wisconsin Woodchucks tomorrow night at Athletic Park.
Following the three-game road trip, Green Bay will return to Joannes Stadium on June 12 against the Woodchucks at 6:35 p.m. for Educator Appreciation Night.
