
Kime Earns First Pro Win in 5-0 Victory

Lake County Captains News Release
(Dayton, OH)- Dace Kime pitched six and two thirds of shutout baseball to earn his first professional win and help the Captains defeat Dayton 5-0 on Friday Night. Kime (1-9) allowed just three hits and one walk. Kime was a third round pick of the Cleveland Indians in 2013. This is the Third game of the season that the Captains have shut out an opponent.
Lake County scored a run in the top of the third inning to take the lead. Ivan Castillo tripled an scored on a ground out from Logan Vick and the Captain sled the Dragons 1-0. Lake County then added three runs in the top of the third inning. With two on, Dorssys Paulino Doubled home a run to make the score 2-0. Brian Ruiz followed with a single to center field and both runners scored to make the score 4-0 Captains.
The scoring was capped in the top of the sixth inning. Nellie Rodriguez was on first base, and Brian Ruiz laced a double to right center field and Rodriguez scored from first base. The score was 5-0 Captains. That was the final.
The Captains bullpen used two pitchers. Justin Brantley pitched one and one third innings and allowed one hit. Trevor Frank pitched the ninth inning and also allowed just one base hit to close out the game.
LHP Ismael Guillon (4-1) started for Dayton and took the loss. Guillon pitched four innings and allowed six hits and four earned runs. Guillon walked three and struck out two. The bullpen combined to pitch five innings and limited the Captains to one earned run on one hit and two walks. The pen fanned seven.
The Captains will stay in Dayton, OH on Saturday to continue a three game series with the Dayton Dragons. The Captains will send LHP Luis Lugo (4-4, 4.56) to the mound. The Dragons will counter with RHP Sal Romano (4-5, 3.42). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM from Fifth Third Field.
