(Cedar Rapids-IA) The Burlington Bees clinched the first half Western Division wild card with a back-and-forth, 6-5, win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in Cedar Rapids on Friday.

Mitch Garver gave Cedar Rapids the lead in the bottom of the first inning, grounding a single up the middle, scoring Ryan Walker, putting the Kernels up 1-0.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, Ryan Dalton put the Bees on the board with a sacrifice fly. With the bases loaded Erick Salcedo drew a walk, tying the game at two.

A Jason Kanzler home run, combined with a John Murphy run scoring single, gave the Kernels their two run lead back at 4-2.

The Bees battled back to tie the game in fifth inning, when Eric Aguilera clobbered his team leading eighth home run, a two run shot, tying the game back up at four.

After Cedar Rapids grabbed their third lead of the game at 5-4, Mike Fish doubled in a pair of runs giving the Bees' their first lead of the game at 6-5.

The Bees' bullpen worked four scoreless innings, helping the Bees hold on for the win, earning a spot in the Midwest League Playoffs.

Bees' starter Clint Sharp (3-3) picked up the win, while Kernels' reliever Chris Mazza (0-2) was charged with the loss. Alan Busenitz (9) worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning, earning the save.

The Burlington Bees (37-30) head to Cedar Rapids to start a three game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels (30-38), Saturday night at 6:30 PM. Garrett Nuss makes the start for the Bees against Ethan Mildren of Cedar Rapids.
