Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Bees and Cotton Kings face off in the last game of a home and home series. The clubs got on the bus after the game at Lubbock last night and raced each other to Hidalgo.
LAST NIGHT
The Cotton Kings took a 4-2 win last night. Lubbock opened a 2-0 lead on goals by former Bee Trevor Weisgerber and Stacey Bauman, but the Bees answered back on a pair of power play goals to tie the game at 2-2. Bill Newson snapped home his own rebound at 14:49, and Jamie Lovell rocketed home his second goal of the season at 18:39. Lubbock regained the lead with 53 seconds left in the first on Craig Minard's first of the season. Jeff Van Nynatten took the loss in net for the Bees with 27 saves, while JF Perras earned the win for Lubbock with 17 saves.

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
Lubbock's 2-0 start this season was the best in franchise history. They fell to 2-2 with losses at Odessa on Saturday and at home vs. Arizona Tuesday morning. The Kings were up 2-0 entering the third period, only to se Arizona fire off a shorthanded, power play and even strength goal to win the game...Each week a member of the Cotton Kings is selected as the "Wienerschnitzel Top Dog of the Week" for their performance in the previous week's games, and veteran forward Bobby Brown is this week's top dog. The third-year King registered six points in two games on the week with a trio of goals and assists...Defenseman Stacey Bauman is the only defenseman in the CHL with a shorthanded goal...Saturday, the Cotton Kings tied a franchise record with four power play goals, as they went 4-for-11 in the contest.

- Two of the Bees three wins have occurred when they score first.
- The Bees tied a franchise record with three power play goals vs. Corpus Christi on Oct. 27. It's happened three other times, the last being a 3-for-5 night on Dec. 28, 2004 vs. Laredo.

KILLER BEES TEAM NOTES
EVEN-STRENGTH GOALS AT A PREMIUM
The Bees have scored just six even-strength goals in 15 periods this season. In all, 10 of the team's 16 goals have come via the power play.
FAST START
This season marks the third time the Bees entered their fifth game of the season with a 3-1 record. Last year, the team beat Lubbock on opening night, lost to Lubbock the night after that, then beat OKC and Austin on the road before coming home to beat Laredo and improve to 4-1. In 2004-05, the Bees opened the season with a loss at Austin, then came home and rattled off wins against Laredo, Austin and Corpus Christi to improve to 3-1.
49 SHOTS ON OPENING NIGHT
The Bees tested Arizona's Kris Mayotte with 49 shots on opening night but surprisingly did not set a CHL early high-water mark. Oklahoma City poured 50 shots on Bossier-Shreveport on Oct. 20 en route to a 5-3 win. Goalie John Decaro made 49 saves, as the 50th shot was an empty-net goal.
BEES RANK SIXTH IN CHL COACHES POLL
The Killer Bees were sixth in the first CHL coaches poll released Thursday. Youngstown, OKC and Arizona were the top three, followed by Wichita, Colorado and the Bees.

Van NyNatten
- Earned first pro win with 24 saves in second pro start at Laredo on October 28.
- Teammate and roommate of Killer Bee Ryan Carrigan at Niagara from 2003-05.
- Ranks first on CHA chart in career wins and minutes.
- Made an NCAA season-high 59 saves in a 7-1 loss at Minnesota on Jan. 7, 2006.
Blanchard
- Earned a 2-1 win with 24 saves in his first pro start (Oct. 21 vs. Arizona).
- Graduated from the University of Ottawa with a degree in Human Kinetics in 2006.
KILLER BEES PLAYER NOTES
DULLE RIFLES 13 SHOTS ON OPENING WEEKEND
Kurtis Dulle had 10 shots on goal in Friday's season-opening loss and was held off the score sheet. He put three shots on Arizona netminder Kris Mayotte on Saturday and collected a goal and an assist. The 10 shots is tied with Oklahoma City's Marty Standish for a CHL season high.
