Frederick Keys News Release

The Frederick Keys were one strike away. Leading 5-2 in the ninth inning Salem clawed back, scoring three runs to even the score at 5-5 before rain suspended the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Wednesday, August 22nd, the game will be continued at 5:30 p.m. The originally scheduled ballgame will begin after a short intermission and will be played in it's entirety.

The game was suspended with a runner on first base and one out for Frederick in the ninth inning. The game will be picked up in that spot.

Frederick took a four run lead in the second inning when they plated five consecutive runs in back-to-back innings to go on top 5-1.

2B Jonathan Tucker started the rally tying the game 1-1 with his second home run of the year. He would score a run in each of the first two innings after not scoring since August 4th.

With a healthy lead, Keys starter Brad Bergesen worked well allowing just two runs in eight innings of work.

But in the ninth inning Salem rallied to tie the game. With a run in and two men out, Keys reliever Jason Burch walked the potential tying runner in SS Wladimir Sutil. Sutil then stole second and scored on a two-run single by 2B Tim Torres.

Soon after that the rain became too much to continue.

Wednesday, August 22nd's action starts at 5:30 p.m. as the suspended game is continued with a nine inning game to follow. It will be "Show Your Pearly White's" Night at Harry Grove Stadium presented by Politimi Montzouromis, DDS. Also the Principal Financial Funfest will make it's annual visit with many inflatables and fun games for families.
