Frederick Keys News Release

The Frederick Keys came back from three runs down Monday night to tie the Wilmington Blue Rocks and send the game to extra innings. Wilmington, however, scored four times in the 10th to defeat the Keys 7-3.

Frederick had LHP Zach Britton atop the hill. The Blue Rocks got to him in the second. LF Paulo Orlando led off the frame with a double. C Ryan Eigsti knocked him in with a single, giving Wilmington an early 1-0 lead.

Blue Rocks' DH Adrian Ortiz led off the top of the third with a double. He advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a ground out, extending the Wilmington lead to two.

Wilmington struck again in the fifth. SS Josh Johnson hit a one out double. CF Derrick Robinson knocked him in with a single to left, making it 3-0.

Britton exited after the sixth. He allowed the three runs on six hits, while walking one and striking out a season-high nine batters.

Frederick finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth. With SS Pedro Florimon on first and one out, LF David Cash singled to center. Robinson charged in to field the ball, but it went under his glove and rolled towards the wall. Florimon scored all the way from first to put the Keys on the scoreboard.

The Keys struck again in the sixth. With one man down, C Caleb Joseph walloped his sixth homerun of the season. The solo shot pulled Frederick to within one.

In the seventh, Frederick tied it up. Florimon walked with one man down. Cash then drilled a line drive to center field. Robinson took a bad angle at it, playing what should've been a single into a triple. It scored Florimon and tied the game at three.

The game would end up going into extra innings. In the top of the 10th, the Blue Rocks got to Keys reliever RHP Joe Esposito. Wilmington scored four times on four hits to put the game away.

RHP Juan Abreu got the win for Wilmington. He tossed two perfect innings to improve to 3-1. Esposito took the loss. He drops to 0-2.
