June 29, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Winston-Salem Dash News Release
Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem Dash will be hosting Firecracker Fun Night as part of their Independence Day celebration at Wake Forest Baseball Park on Thursday, July 2 when they take on the Lynchburg Hillcats. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
For the past decade, Winston-Salem has hosted a game on July 4th, but this season, the Dash are on the road this Independence Day. The Dash invite all of Winston-Salem to join us in kicking off the holiday weekend on Thursday, July 2 at Wake Forest Baseball Park.
As part of the celebration, the team will host a special pre-game ceremony sponsored by WilcoHess, provide on-field entertainment between every inning and host the best fireworks show of the season following the game. The extravaganza is also part of Thirsty Thursday, which includes discounted beer and soda. To ensure all families have the opportunity to take part in this special holiday celebration, advanced ticket prices have been reduced to $5.
The Dash will honor local military personnel in a special pre-game ceremony, with select veterans taking the field with the players prior to the national anthem. In addition to festivities involving the military, the team will be presented with a banner to honor their first-half Southern Division title and playoff berth. Starting pitcher Levi Maxwell will be recognized for tossing the first no-hitter in the history of the Winston-Salem Dash on June 19 against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
Bolt, the new Dash mascot, will perform entertaining, family-friendly skits throughout the game. The best fireworks show of the season will follow the game brought to you by WilcoHess.
Advanced tickets can be purchased for only $5 by calling the Dash offices at 336-714-2287 or by visiting www.wsdash.com. For additional requests or inquiries, please contact Ed Collari at 770-367-5986 or ed.collari@wsdash.com.
