The Party at the Park is winding down and the Kernels have only seven home games remaining, with a four game set starting Saturday. Here's what you can expect at the ballpark each of the next four games:
August 25-28 vs. Beloit
The Kernels begin a four-game home stand on Saturday, August 25th against the Beloit Snappers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
Saturday starts with the 10th Annual Al Smith Family Fun Day from 10 am until 1 pm. Admission is $5 with children 3-under admitted free. The event includes a silent auction, ballpark activities, stadium tours, a ballpark-style lunch, raffles and much more. Proceeds from the Family Fun Day benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids and Eastern Iowa.
Then, it's one of the biggest nights of the year - Cargill/Special Olympics Night. There's a silent auction on the concourse during the game with the proceeds to benefit Special Olympics, the first 500 fans through the gates receive a free koozie from BankIowa, Great Clips will have a display booth on the concourse and the Kernels will recognize their 2012 Host Families on the field prior to the game. Then, after the game enjoy a spectacular FIREWORKS show, presented by Cargill and Special Olympics. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Beloit is set for 6:35 pm on Saturday, August 25th.
You'll want to be here when the gates open at 12:30 pm on Sunday, August 26th as the first 1,500 fans through the gates receive a free 2012 Kernels Team photo, thanks to Copyworks. The Kernels will recognize all the youngsters that read 1,000 minutes during the 14th Annual Kernels Summer Reading Program, presented by Toyota Financial Services. The national entertainment act, RALLY, will be here on Sunday to entertain fans of all ages throughout the game. Papa Balloon will be here with face painting by Funny Face Designs by Lori during the game and after the game, fans can run the bases and play catch in the outfield as part of 104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday. First pitch between the Kernels and Snappers is set for 2:05 pm.
The Kernels and Snappers play at 6:35 pm on Monday, August 27th with the gates opening at 5:30 pm. Before the game, the Kernels will announce the 2012 Rockwell-Collins Fans Choice Award winner. And, the Kernels welcome special guests from Kirkwood Community College to the game.
The Kernels and Snappers wrap up their four-game home stand on Tuesday, August 28th. Millhiser Smith will make a presentation to Camp Courageous as part of their season-long Home Runs for Camp Courageous promotion. First pitch between the Kernels and Beloit is set for 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm.

104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday: Every Sunday home game, fans can get autographs from the Kernels players on the concourse from 1:20 to 1:40 pm. Play Travel Advisors Baseball Vacation Bingo for a chance to win a trip Anaheim in 2013 and see an Angels game. And after the game, kids (and adults) can run the bases and play catch on the field. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and face painting by Funny Face Designs by Lori. The Storybook Princesses from Glass Slipper Entertainment and juggler Doug Sayers will be here on three select Sundays.
Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday: 12 oz. draft beer is $1.50 all game and get bottled soda and water for $2.
Kernels Mug Club, presented by Sip N Stir with media partner 98.1 KHAK: Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug filled with your favorite domestic draft beer for just $5.00 and get refills at the Kernels concessions stands for just $2.50. You can also take the mug to Sip N Stir after the game for $2.50 refills and bring the mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for those $2.50 refills.
Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
