Alex Capaul surrendered a two-run home run to Jordan Smith in the tenth inning Friday and the South Bend Silver Hawks (65-65, 30-30) fell 7-5 to the Lake County Captains in extra innings at Classic Park. The Silver Hawks dropped three out of four in the series and remain three games behind Fort Wayne in the eastern division wildcard chase with ten to play.

Enosil Tejada (3-1) earned the win for the Captains, tossing one scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Capaul (1-4) was hit with the loss, allowing the game-winning hit in extra innings.

Smith hit a pair of two-run home runs for the Captains, including a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Smith finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Sean Jamieson paced the Silver Hawks offensively, finishing 4-for-5 with a double. The Silver Hawks held leads of 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 and 5-4.

Conrad Flynn started for South Bend and did not factor in the decision, allowing four earned runs on five hits over 6.2 innings. The right-hander walked two and struck out four. It was the longest outing of his professional career.

Matt Helm, Kerry Jenkins and Eric Groff each tallied two hits for the Silver Hawks. South Bend outhit Lake County 12-7.

The Silver Hawks are now 9-7 in extra-inning games this season. The Silver Hawks finished 7-9 against Lake County this season.

The Silver Hawks return home Saturday to begin a four-game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Archie Bradley (11-5, 3.62) gets the ball for South Bend and he will be opposed by left-hander Sean Bierman. First pitch is on tap for 7:05 p.m. EST.
