
Snappers Win with Dominant Offense

Beloit, WI- Every single Beloit Snapper reached base tonight helping the Snappers to pick up the 8-2 win over the Peoria Chiefs. The Snappers outhit the Chiefs 12-5 in the contest.
The Chiefs' Yao-Lin Wang had a rough start allowing two runs in the first. Nate Roberts hit a leadoff triple and eventually went on to score on a base hit by J.D. Williams. Williams then scored on a double by Eddie Rosario, who was tagged out trying to take third.
Wang continued to struggle on the mound allowing the Snappers to score another four runs in the bottom of the second. Stephen Wickens ripped a double scoring Drew Leachman, who led off with a single. Roberts hit a double scoring Wickens and Jairo Rodriguez, who reached on an error. The hits kept on coming as Eddie Rosario smacked his second double of the game scoring Roberts, giving the Snappers a 6-0 lead.
The Chiefs got on the board in the top off the fourth with a two-run homer from Dustin Geiger scoring Zeke DeVoss, who singled to lead off the inning.
Willengton Cruz relieved Wang in the bottom of the fifth with one out. Wang worked four and a third innings allowing ten hits and six runs, while striking out four and walking four.
Corey Kimes relieved Steven Gruver in the top of the sixth inning. Gruver pitched five innings allowing three hits and two runs, while recording four strikeouts.
Nate Roberts scored again in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch by Cruz. Rosario followed up with a solo homer run, his 11th of the season, giving the Snappers an 8-2 lead. Rosario finished the game four for five tonight with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI while Roberts went two for three with a double, a triple, and two RBI.
Austin Reed relieved Cruz in the bottom of the eighth. Cruz worked two and two third innings allowing two hits and two runs.
Tim Atherton relieved Kimes in the top of the ninth. Kimes worked three scoreless innings while recording three strikeouts. Atherton closed the game allowing just one hit, while striking out one and walking one. The Snappers picked up their first win in the series 8-2.
The Snappers now hit the road for a seven-game road trip and return home on Saturday, September 1st. September 1st will feature our final post-game fireworks show of the season, sponsored by McDonald's of Beloit. It is also Fan Appreciation Night where we'll give out prizes all game long!
