
Kernels Homer Three Times In 7-2 Win Over Hot Rods

The Cedar Rapids Kernels homered three times in a 7-2 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Sunday evening at Bowling Green Stadium. Carlos Ramirez went 2-3 with two home runs and three RBI and Justin Bass had a two run triple.
Kernels starter Fabio Martinez (7-2) allowed a run on three hits, walked six and struck out four over five innings for the win. Carson Andrew, Young-Il Jung and David Carpenter combined to work the final four innings out of the Kernels bullpen.
The Kernels pounded out 14 hits as every Kernels starter had at least one hit. Richard Cates went 3-5 with a run scored and Casey Haerther was 2-5 with a double and run scored. Kyle Spraker and Ryan Wiegand each had an RBI for the Hot Rods. Bowling Green starter Jason McEachern (4-9) allowed five runs on eight hits over 4.2 IP in taking the loss.
