Dayton, Ohio-Quad Cities starting pitcher Shelby Miller fired seven shutout innings as the River Bandits topped Homer Bailey and the Dayton Dragons 5-0 on Monday night before a crowd of 8,159 at Fifth Third Field.

Bailey, on a rehabilitation assignment from the Cincinnati Reds, worked the first four innings for Dayton. He retired nine straight batters after allowing a lead-off single in the first inning, then allowed three hits and three runs in the fourth. Bailey was charged with the loss. His final line showed four hits and three runs with one walk and five strikeouts.

Miller, the top prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals farm system and the Cards first round draft pick in 2009, allowed just three hits with no walks while striking out five to improve to 4-4 on the year.

Quad Cities swept the three-game series and dropped the Dragons to 0-6 on their current nine game home stand. The River Bandits grabbed the lead in the fourth when Matt Adams delivered a two-run double to right-center field and then scored on a single by C.J. Beatty to make it 3-0 against Bailey. In the sixth, the Bandits added two more runs against Dragons reliever Ricky Bowen, getting a pair of RBI doubles from C.J. Beatty and Edgar Lara.

The Dragons collected just three hits. Ryan LaMarre had a first inning single, Chase Weems doubled in the sixth, and Didi Gregorius singled in the seventh. Bandits pitchers did not issue a walk.

Bowen went five innings in relief of Bailey, allowing six hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.

The Dragons (8-21) do not play on Tuesday. They open a three-game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Justin Walker (3-9, 5.78) will start for Dayton against Bowling Green's Alexander Colome (6-6, 3.80).
