Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release

Beloit, WI - The Cedar Rapids Kernels saw the Beloit Sky Carp put up four multi-run innings - three three-run frames and one four-run crooked number - as they fell 13-6 on Sunday afternoon, taking a 3-3 series split. Cedar Rapids surrendered a season-high 13 hits to account for the 13 runs. With a Wisconsin loss in Peoria, the Kernels remain 3.0 games up in the West Division standings ahead of their home series with Quad Series.

Beloit plated three in the second, fifth and seventh then piled up four runs in the eighth.

Cedar Rapids first got on the board with a Jeferson Morales two-run home run in the fourth, cutting their deficit to 3-2. Trailing 6-2 in the seventh, Alerick Soularie drew a walk and scored on an Anthony Prato RBI double.

The lineup made some noise in the ninth with a Christian Encarnacion-Strand sacrifice fly and an Aaron Sabato two-run homer crushed to dead center.

The Kernels open a six-game home series on Tuesday with a 6:35 p.m. CT first pitch against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
