Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
The Cedar Rapids Kernels crowned their 1,000,000 fan to come through the gates at Veterans Memorial Stadium since the stadium opened in April of 2002 and tonight, that fan was Michelle Schmidt of Vinton.
Her arrival was announced with a barrage of fireworks from behind the scoreboard and after a brief interview by the main gates, Michelle and her family took a limo ride around the stadium and behind home plate where she was presented with a prize package valued at $10,000.
The Schmidt family was congratulated by Kernels president, Tom Barbee; Kernels Foundation president, Gary Keoppel; Kay Halloran, Mayor of Cedar Rapids; and George Hamman from the Veterans Commission.
Congratulations to Michelle Schmidt and her family from Vinton and âthanks a million' to all the great Kernel fans who have made the Cedar Rapids Kernels the premier entertainment venue in Cedar Rapids.
A screen grab is also attached of Michelle and her family. Sorry it isn't better quality, but it's the best I have right now
