
Kernels beaten by Bandits, 6-2

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Kernels dropped a 6-2 decision to the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport on Saturday evening.
The River Bandits scored a run in the 1st inning when Colin Walsh's RBI single brought home Matt Williams, giving Quad Cities an early 1-0 lead.
Quad Cities added two more runs in the 3rd inning, taking a 3-0 lead. Nick Martini's RBI single plated Roberto Reyes, and Walsh's RBI single brought Martini home.
The Bandits kept the scoring going with two more runs in the 4th inning, extending their lead to 5-0. Garrett Wittels drove home Casey Rasmus with a RBI sacrifice fly to right field. Reyes plated Luis Mateo with a RBI single.
Cam Bedrosian (0-2) started and took the loss for the Kernels. He went four innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out one and walking two.
Quad Cities added a run in the 5th inning, increasing their lead to 6-0 as Mateo's RBI double scored Walsh.
Logan Odom pitched two innings in relief for the Kernels, allowing one run on one hit. He struck out two and walked one.
The Kernels got on the board in the 7th inning. With two outs, Frazier Hall singled to center and Andy Workman walked. After a wild pitch by Bandits starter Hector Hernandez, Matt Scioscia's 2-RBI single to right field scored Hall and Workman and cut the Quad Cities lead to 6-2.
Carmine Giardina pitched a scoreless inning for the Kernels in relief, allowing one hit while striking out two. Ty Kelley pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit.
Hector Hernandez (3-2) started and got the win for Quad Cities. He allowed two runs on four hits over 7.1 innings. He struck out two and walked three. Willy Paulino went 1.2 innings and allowed no runs on one hit.
The Kernels continue the series vs. Quad Cities in Davenport on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
