Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
Cedar Rapids, IA - Now you have an FM choice when listening to Kernels baseball. Beginning this Friday, July 1st, KMRY will begin a new era of FM broadcasting. You will still be able to hear KMRY on 1450 AM, but a new simulcast begins on Friday in FM stereo at 93.1 FM.
KMRY has been a pioneer when it comes to streaming our sound on the web in stereo. You have been able to hear KMRY anywhere in the world that has internet connectivity at www.kmryradio.com .
For nearly two years, KMRY has been working behind the scenes to make our AM signal available on FM. Listeners in the Cedar Rapids, Marion and Hiawatha areas, along with Anamosa, Center Point, North Liberty, Vinton and other areas within a 15-mile radius of our tower on the northeast side of Cedar Rapids will be able to enjoy all the great music from the 60's and 70's as well as up-to-the-minute news, weather and sports.
The day has finally arrived! At 2 pm this Friday, July 1st, KMRY-FM will be a reality. Still locally owned and still very much locally involved, but now with AM AND FM, KMRY will be Twice as Nice!
The Kernels continue a six game home stand against Wisconsin on Friday, July 1st. Gates open at 5:00 pm and first pitch is set for 6:35 pm. Fans can enjoy all the action with Morgan Hawk on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM, 93.1 KMRY FM, or listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com .
Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com, or by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560. Ticket office hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
