
Keisler Dazzles With Seven Scoreless Innings

(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 25, 2010) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 2-0 on Wednesday night before a past-capacity crowd of 6,255 at Suffolk County Sports Park.
The Ducksgrabbed the lead earlywith a two-spot in the first inning against Revs' starter Matt DeSalvo. Ray Navarrete blasted a solo homer off the left field foul pole, and Matt Padgett laced a RBI single to right, scoring Robinson Cancel.
That was all Ducks' starter Randy Keisler (2-0) needed, as he picked up the victory, firing seven shutout innings, allowing just five hits while striking out six. DeSalvo (1-1) suffered the loss, surrendering two runs on nine hits in eight innings. Bill Simas fired a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the season.
Cancel, Padgett, and Javier Colina paced the Ducks at the plate with two hits apiece.
Long Island and York wrap up their four-game series on Thursday. Game time is set for 7:05 PM, with the Suffolk County Sports Park gates opening early at 5:20 for a special softball game between the Suffolk County Police Department and the Suffolk County Corrections Officers. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Black, White, and Orange Baseball Caps, courtesy of Ridgewood Savings Bank. Daryl Harang takes the mound for the Ducks against York's Tim Harikkala. Duck Tales: Ray Navarrete's first inning solo homer was his 13th of the season and seventh at the Duck Pond. The homer also extended Navarrete's hitting streak to six games, and he has now hit safely in 14 of his last 15 gamesRobinson Cancel's first inning single extended his on-base streak to 30 games, tying him for the longest streak in the Atlantic League this season. Camden's Brian Burgamy, York's Ramon Castro, and Lancaster's Jason Perry also havehad on-base streaks of 30 games this seasonKane Davis fired a scoreless eighth inning, his eighth straight appearance without allowing a run. Davis has allowed just one run overall in his last 18 games, a span of 19 inningsBill Simas earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning. The Ducks' pitching coach and all-time saves leader last picked up a save on September 20, 2009 against the Camden Riversharks, which was his league-leading 27th of the season.
