LOVELAND, CO --- The Mississippi RiverKings claimed its third straight victory with a 4-2 win at Colorado on Friday, February 19. The victory was also the sixth straight regular season win by the RiverKings over the Eagles. Mississippi has a 14-7-1 all-time regular season mark against Colorado.

Mississippi is now 25-20-6 for the year, still two points behind third-place Bossier-Shreveport in the Central Hockey League's Northern Conference standings. Colorado fell to 31-12-6 in second place in the conference standings.

Colorado took a 1-0 lead after one period on a goal from Ed McGrane, his 24th of the season, at 12:07 of the frame. McGrane's shot from the right wing finished just inside the right post for the goal, assisted by Brett Lutes and Ryan McLeod.

The RiverKings tied the game in the second period when Ryan Held poked in a loose puck at the side of the crease for his 24th goal of the year at 13:24. Ken Davis and Derek Landmesser earned assists on the goal that knotted the contest up at 1-1 after two periods of play.

Goal scoring became more productive in the third period, as the RiverKings outscored Colorado 3-1 for the 4-2 victory.

Kevin Truelson first scored on the power play at 50 seconds of the period, assisted by Landmesser and Darrell Stoddard for a 2-1 lead. Stephen Margeson scored the eventual game-winning goal when his shot went between the pads of the Colorado goaltender for a red-lighter. The unassisted marker was Margeson's sixth of the season, making the count 3-1, RiverKings.

After Riley Nelson got Colorado within a goal at 3-2 later in the period, Bobby Chaumont finished the scoring for the night with the RiverKings' second power play goal, assisted by Elias Godoy and Truelson at 18:19 for the insurance goal.

Tim Boron was sensational in net for the RiverKings, stopping 30 of 32 shots on goal. He raised his record 4-5-2 overall for the year with his third straight RiverKings victory.

Andrew Penner (15-7-3) took the loss for Colorado with a 19-save, four-goal performance. Mississippi was outshot for the game 32-23 but scored two power play goals in eight chances. Colorado was scoreless in five extra man opportunities.

Mississippi continues the road trip with another game at Colorado tomorrow night, starting at 8:05 PM Central time. There will not be a watch party at Buffalo Wild Wings in Southaven tomorrow night due to prior commitments by the restaurant. The next watch party will take place Tuesday, February 23, when the RiverKings are in Missouri against the Mavericks.

Next home action for the RiverKings will be February 26 against the Wichita Thunder, starting at 7:05 PM in the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South will be highlighted as the non-profit MVP of the night. A jersey auction of the Pink in the Rink Night jerseys will take place and there will be a post-game skate on the ice for fans after the game.
