Kazmar Four-Hit Night Leads Beavers to 7-2 Win

Portland, Ore. - Sean Kazmar went 4-for-4, reaching base five times and driving in two runs as the Portland Beavers beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 7-2 Monday night at Security Service Field.

Cedric Hunter, Mitch Canham, Craig Stansberry and Kazmar each finished with multiple hits while Mike Baxter recorded two RBIs for the Beavers (31-47).

Aaron Poreda (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings and did not allow a hit in his first win of the season. Six Beavers pitchers combined to limit the Sky Sox (35-43) to four hits.

Matt Miller finished 2-for-2 with one RBI and Jay Payton tallied one hit and one RBI for the Sky Sox.

Sky Sox starter Chaz Roe (5-8) gave up seven runs (4 earned) on nine hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Hunter and Kazmar each scored on successive sacrifice flies in the third inning to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead.

A two-out RBI single by Kazmar and subsequent error on the throw home by the Sky Sox left fielder Cole Garner scored three more runs for the Beavers in the top of the fourth inning.

Stansberry scored on the third error of the game by the Sky Sox as part of a two-run sixth inning for the Beavers.

The Beavers and Sky Sox meet again Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. (Pacific) in the finale of their four-game series at Security Service Field.

NOTES: Luis Perdomo threw a season-high 40 pitches in the start ... Luis Durango stole his 23rd base of the season, good for third best in the PCL ... the Sky Sox, who lead the PCL in fielding, committed three errors ... Poreda has yet to allow a run as a Beaver this season in 11 1/3 innings.
