Kansas City Wizards Begin SuperLiga Tournament Sunday

(June 17, 2009) - The Kansas City Wizards enter their first SuperLiga tournament this weekend with a Sunday match against partner club FC Atlas at Hermann Stadium on the campus of St. Louis University. Kansas City defeated FC Atlas 2-1 last July in an international friendly at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The match kicks off at 3:30 p.m. CT, with tickets starting at $20. Discounts are available for groups of 15 or more. Tickets remain available in St. Louis at all MetroTix locations. Charge by phone (314) 534-1111 or online at www.metrotix.com. Wizards season ticket holders have the option to utilize Special Game B tickets for this match. The entire tournament will be broadcast live nationally on TeleFutura in Spanish and online at www.SuperLiga2009.com in English.

After Sunday's match, the Wizards travel directly to New England for a Wednesday contest with the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium at 6 p.m. CT. The Wizards will not be available to media in Kansas City until Friday, June 26 of the following week, so media are encouraged to attend the Wizards weekly press conference tomorrow, June 18 or training on Friday, June 19. Phone interviews can be arranged through a member of the Wizards media relations department while the team is traveling.

Tickets remain on sale for Kansas City's showdown with Mexican powerhouse Santos Laguna Sunday, June 28 at 5:30 p.m. CT at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The Wizards are also offering a special two-game package that includes one (1) ticket to the Santos Laguna match, one (1) ticket to the Chicago Fire match on Aug. 16 and one (1) special-edition T-shirt.
