Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the International Hockey League, announce that goaltender Jason Tapp has been named the league's Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 16th.

Brilliant between the pipes, Tapp was a perfect 2-0-0-0 for the K-Wings last weekend. In his 300th career game last Friday, Tapp turned aside 25 of the 26 shots he faced to secure a 6-1 victory for Kalamazoo over Flint.

On Saturday, Tapp continued his stingy ways setting a K-Wings' season-high 31 saves in Kalamazoo's 6-2 victory over Fort Wayne.

In two appearances, Tapp had a 1.50 goals against average and had a save percentage of 0.949.

Tapp becomes the first K-Wing netminder to win the IHL's highest goaltending weekly honor this season and joins former K-Wings' Jeff Reynaert (once) and Jeremy Symington (twice) as the only other K-Wings goaltenders to take home the award.

Kalamazoo will return to the ice tomorrow, November 18th at McMorran Place Arena with a 7:30 p.m. face-off against the Port Huron Icehawks.

The K-Wings will head back to Wings Stadium on Friday, November 21st with a 7:30 p.m. encounter versus the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Win-Win Night, presented by Win-98.5 FM. If the K-Wings win, all fans in attendance will receive a voucher for a FREE ticket for the game against Port Huron on Sunday, November 23rd.
