Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks are getting familiar with streaks this season. After beginning the 2008-09 International Hockey League campaign on a four game winless streak, the Icehawks have reversed the trend and now find themselves on a five game winning streak. The streak ties a league high for consecutive wins set by Fort Wayne in October.

The Icehawks defeated the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Tuesday (5-3) and Friday (5-1) last week, before beating the Flint Generals 4-3 on Saturday in the league's first shootout this season. With the three wins, the Icehawks improved to 7-5-0-0 on the season and jumped into a tie with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Fort Wayne Komets for first place in the International Hockey League. The hot Icehawks have now won seven of their last eight games.

The Icehawks will look to maintain their perch on top of the standings this week despite being in the midst of a tough schedule. They host the Kalamazoo Wings on Tuesday, before hitting the road for three games in three days this weekend, including trips to Fort Wayne on Friday, Flint on Saturday and Kalamazoo on Sunday. The Icehawks are 2-0-0-0 versus Kalamazoo this season, 0-1-0-0 versus Fort Wayne, and 2-3-0-0 against Flint.
